Whitman Wharf House B&B, Historic Canso, NSRandom Thoughts from a B&B: Not a blog

Paul Newman & Steve McQueen

This morning, two of our guests were ladies of more mature years traveling from Vermont. They were joined at breakfast by two young men from Genoa, Italy, who barely spoke English. In the way Bed & Breakfast guests do, the two pairs struck up a conversation, albeit a hesitant one given the language difficulties. I try not to listen in to guests’ conversations, but am sometimes struck by one or two words that make their way into the kitchen. In this case the guests had found common ground in an unexpected place. Steve McQueen. I have no idea how or why he came up, but he was clearly a topic that caused great enthusiasm on both sides.

What was more curious is the fact that a couple of weeks ago, over the Stan Rogers Festival weekend, we were fortunate enough to have one of the artists, Audra Raulyns, stay with us. It turns out her partner’s name is Paul Newman.

I am a great believer in synchronicity, so I am now extremely hopeful that in the near future we will have Marilyn Monroe as a drop-in guest. I have always wanted to meet her!
